Thompson & Morgan Cabbage Primo 11 Seeds

Grow the crisp, crunchy cabbage your meals have been missing with the Thompson & Morgan Cabbage Primo 11 Seeds. Cultivating cabbages has never been easier than with the reliable and productive Primo variety. This well-established type produces solid, ball-shaped summer cabbages that can be harvested from June to August. These cabbages are perfect for enjoying raw in coleslaw or salads, as well as steamed to a tender finish, ideally served with butter and black pepper. For successful companion planting, consider growing cabbages alongside nasturtiums to deter cabbage white butterflies and mint to keep flea beetles at bay. Indoor sowing of summer cabbage seeds can take place from February to May, while outdoor direct sowing is suitable from late March in a well-prepared seedbed for later transplanting. Seeds should be planted 13mm deep with a distance of 23cm between rows. When sowing indoors, use trays filled with free-draining seed sowing compost, covering the seeds with a layer of vermiculite. Germination occurs in 4 to 7 days under optimal conditions at a temperature of 20-25C (68-77F). Once germinated, grow the cabbage plants in cooler conditions until the risk of frost has passed, ensuring they have developed 2 to 3 true leaves before transplanting. This variety thrives in full sun and can reach a height of up to 30cm and a spread of up to 45cm once fully established. It is provided in a packet containing approximately 200 seeds, alongside growing and care instructions.
