Product Information

  • Packet contains 30 seeds for allotment or kitchen garden planting
  • Hardy annual grows to 40cm height and 50cm spread
  • Thick crisp leaves offer alternative to iceberg lettuce
Bring a burst of sweetness to your kitchen garden with Thompson & Morgan Cabbage Cabbice F1 Seeds, producing thick crisp leaves that make a tasty alternative to iceberg lettuce. You'll find this vigorous variety thrives in almost any free-draining soil and stands strong until the first hard frosts of autumn. Enjoy reliable germination and easy transplanting, whether sowing indoors or directly outdoors, and get creative by pairing with nasturtiums to help deter cabbage white butterflies. With a compact height of 40cm and a spread of 50cm, you can count on a rewarding harvest that fits perfectly into any allotment or home plot. How to grow: Sow autumn cabbage seed indoors seed from March to May. Alternatively direct sow outdoors from late March into a well prepared seedbed, for transplanting to their final positions later on. Sow at a depth of 13mm (1/2") and distance of 23cm (9") between rows. Indoors, sow seed at a depth of 12mm (1/2") in trays of free-draining, seed sowing compost and cover with a layer of vermiculite. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a plastic bag at a temperature of 20-25C (68-77F) until germination which takes four to seven days. Once germinated, grow Cabbage plants on in cooler conditions until all risk of frost has passed and plants are large enough to be transplanted with two to three true leaves. Packet contains 30 seeds for allotment or kitchen garden planting.
