Thompson and Morgan Begonia Maculata Potted Plant 12cm

The perfect addition to a contemporary home interior or conservatory, potted evergreen house plant Begonia maculata provides a chic splash of colour and life to a space throughout the year. Also known as the ‘Trout Begonia’ or simple ‘Spotted Begonia’, the emerald green leaves are alluringly heart-shaped and patterned with beautiful silver spots on the top side. In contrast, the lower side of the leaf is a vibrant shade of pink. During summer, a profusion of elegant white flowers throws further interest into the mix. Also suitable for growing on the patio as a summer bedding plant, the trailing leaves and flowers make a striking addition to a hanging basket or container. Grow on your plants in warm frost free conditions until all risk of frost has passed. When plants are well grown, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7-10 days before planning in their final positions. Plant out in a sheltered spot in sun or semi-shade in multipurpose compost. Alternatively, grow Begonia maculata on a windowsill, with bright, indirect light, away from the glare of strong afternoon sun. Feed and water regularly until plants are well established. When grown as a houseplant, Begonia maculata should be grown at a minimum temperature of 10c (50F). Please note: Some houseplants are toxic or harmful to pets if ingested.
