Embark on your gardening adventure now with the Thompson & Morgan Beetroot Detroit 6 Rubidus 200 Seeds Packet. It is a remarkable globe variety that eliminates the issue of bolting. It can be harvested a week earlier than ‘Boltardy’, offering firm, deep red roots that can grow up to 12.5cm in diameter while maintaining tender flesh and a high yield. Directly sow beetroot seeds outdoors from March to July in a sunny, weed-free location with fertile, light, well-drained soil. Sow seeds thinly in shallow drills at a depth of 3cm and spaced 30cm apart. Germination typically occurs within 12 to 24 days. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them out to 10cm apart within each row. To ensure healthy growth, water adequately to keep the soil moist and cool, which will help prevent the plants from running to seed. Roots can be lifted anytime between June and October once they reach a diameter of 1 inch or more. Be sure to harvest any remaining crops before the first frost. Beetroot can be stored in moist sand in a frost-free shed or garage until mid-spring. Images provided are for guidance on expected results at maturity.
