Runner Bean 'White Swan' is a white-flowered, white-seeded variety known for its vigorous growth. Each pod grows to approximately 28cm long. To cultivate runner beans successfully, plant them outdoors in rich, fertile, well-drained soil, ensuring they receive full sun or semi-shade and protection from strong winds. Avoid using fresh manure, as this will encourage lush foliage at the expense of bean production. When planting, space the rows about 1.5 meters (5 feet) apart. If space is limited, you can grow the beans on a wigwam structure. They will need support from garden canes, strings, or netting, which should be set up at the time of planting.
