Product Information

  • Ready to harvest in just 60 days
  • Offers full of flavour rich red berries
  • Ideal for pots, beds, or baskets
Strawberry ‘Malling Centenary’ has been selected for its improved flavour and looks, this easy to grow variety produces rich red berries which are full of flavour in just 60 days! If you only have room to grow just one strawberry plant this season, then you should grow this one! Perfect for displaying in your garden patio containers or your kitchen gardens. Height: 30cm (12in). Spread: 50cm (20in) Plant Thompson & Morgan Strawberry ‘Malling Centenary’ plants in autumn or late spring in a sheltered, sunny position. Try growing strawberry plants in hanging baskets or in specially designed strawberry planters for the patio. Alternatively grow well manured, free draining soil. Plant strawberry runners every 45cm (18”) in rows spaced at 75cm (30”) apart. Spread out their roots and place them in the soil at a level where the crown of the plant is just poking above the surface. Avoid planting them too deeply as this may cause them to rot. Alternatively, when growing strawberry plants in baskets and containers, they will need feeding every two weeks. Water strawberries frequently throughout the growing season and weed regularly between rows. From early summer, remove any runners that are produced as these will weaken the plants vigour. Protect the developing fruit from slugs and snails by spreading straw around each plant. Positioning a net over the plants will also prevent crop damage by birds. The netting and straw can be removed after cropping to allow better air flow around the crown of the plant. Mulch strawberry plants with well-rotted manure in spring. Product Specifications: Position in: Full Sun Height up to 30cm (12in) Spread up to 50cm (20in) Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary results. Image may be included for illustration of supply but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
