Coverless Duvets

Shop coverless duvets in a range of styles

A coverless duvet combines the duvet and cover into a single, ready-to-use piece, so there's no separate cover to buy, fit, or wash on its own. It's essentially the same idea as what's often called a comforter, and it's grown in popularity over recent years for good reason! It makes setting up bedding faster and washing simpler, since there's nothing to stuff, button, or tie in place.

Washable duvets for all seasons: Tog ratings explained

Because the whole duvet can go in the wash, coverless duvets suit anyone who wants a cleaner, lower-maintenance bed. Tog rating tells you how warm a duvet is, so it's worth checking before you buy. A 4.5 tog is a good match for summer nights, while a 10.5 tog suits spring and autumn. For colder months, a 13.5 tog or higher will keep you warmer through winter. Some coverless duvets come as all-seasons options, combining two togs together so you can adjust the warmth as the weather changes. Whatever the tog, the ability to wash the whole duvet means it's easier to keep fresh in every season.

Coverless duvet sizes: single, double, and more

Coverless duvets come in the same sizing as standard duvets, from single up to king and super king. A single coverless duvet is generally easier to fit into a standard washing machine, while a double coverless duvet may need a larger drum capacity, so it's worth checking your machine's capacity before washing at home. Coverless Duvet FAQs

Can I wash a coverless duvet double at home?

Most double coverless duvets fit into a washing machine with a drum capacity of around 10kg or more. If your machine is smaller, a local launderette with larger machines is usually the easiest option.

Do I need a top sheet with a coverless duvet?

It's not essential, but many people use one for extra hygiene between washes, since it adds a layer between you and the duvet itself.

Is a coverless duvet as warm as a traditional duvet?

Yes, tog rating works the same way for coverless duvets, so choose based on the same warmth guide you'd use for a standard duvet and cover.
