Asparagus is one of the first green vegetables to come into season at the end of winter, and its presence in markets heralds the start of spring. Once established, asparagus plants produce spears every spring for 12 to 25 years. Asparagus requires two years to grow before they are ready to harvest. Please note the bulbs are bound tightly with an elastic band, once removed the bundle splits into two.
