- Vibrant red petals add effortless charm to gardens
- Iconic Flanders Poppy of remembrance
- Loved by bees and pollinators
The Field Poppy, or Flanders Poppy, is a beautiful symbol of remembrance and a valuable pollinator friendly plant. Its vibrant red petals add effortless charm to gardens, thriving in borders or pots with minimal maintenance. Easy to grow, simply sow in a sunny spot for a stunning summer display. Very attractive to bees and other beneficial insects. Try poppy seeds sprinkled on bread, cakes and biscuits. Growing Information Easy to grow – sow directly outside March-May. Sowing Information Sow the seed thinly 3mm (¼") deep direct into finely raked, moist, warm, weed-free soil where the plants are to flower. Germination usually takes 10-14 days. As the seedlings develop, thin them gradually to achieve a final spacing of 15cm (6"), removing any competing weeds. Remove dead flower heads as they appear. Poppies will grow readily in most garden soils in a sunny position. For every packet sold, 20p is donated to SSAFA, The Armed Forces Charity.
