Wellington Boots

Why Choose Wellington Boots?

Wellies are a gardening and wet weather essential! Completely waterproof and easy to clean, they’ll keep your feet dry whilst working in the garden or on muddy walks with the family. Using wellington boots in the garden also gives you more grip, keeping you upright in slippery conditions or when you’re using digging tools.

Types of Wellies

There’s plenty of wellies designs to choose from, including classic options to use as gardening boots, or snazzy numbers for when you’re out and about! No one loves splashing about in puddles more than kids, so we also stock kids’ wellington boots to keep them safe on rainy days.

FAQs

Why are they called Wellington boots?

Wellington boots are named after the 1st Duke of Wellington, who wanted a sturdy boot for outdoor activities and popularised the style way back in the 1800s.

How do I clean wellies?

Wellies are very easy to clean: simply wash off any mud under the tap or a hose, using a brush for any stubborn bits. Don’t be tempted to use any abrasive materials or harsh chemicals, or your waterproof wellies may not be so waterproof anymore!

How should my wellies fit?

Wellington boots are made from waterproof and hardwearing materials and don’t have a lot of ‘stretch’ in them, so make sure there’s a bit of room. Bear in mind that you may want to wear thicker woollen socks in winter, so make sure there’s room for those too!

How long should a pair of wellies last?

The lifespan of your wellies depends on how often you wear them. If you only use them when it rains and store them properly, they can last for years!

Should you size up or down in Wellington boots?

You should either stick to your regular shoe size, or size up if you want to wear thick welly socks in winter. The rubber material that wellingtons are made from won’t stretch like leather or canvas, so play it safe.

How to stop wellies from rubbing heels?

To prevent blisters, get wellies that fit properly and wear woollen or cotton socks. It’s also a good idea to carry an extra pair of socks in case one pair gets wet.
