While the fronds may die back in winter, the Tree Fern is hardy down to -5 degrees Celsius. To protect it during winter, it is recommended to cover the crown with a layer of straw or fleece. Upon arrival, the tree fern should be planted in a large pot or directly in the garden. Its slow growth is normal, as it may take up to two years for the plant to fully root.
