Dahlias are invaluable for the summer border, in patio containers or as cut flowers, flowering until the first frosts. Remove dead flower heads and one dahlia tuber will produce hundreds of flowers. Plant dahlia tubers with the single stem facing upwards and the bundle of roots facing downwards. Keep plants well watered during growth and remove faded flowers. Once flowers appear use a high potash (potassium) feed to encourage flowers to grow.

Soil requirement: Any garden soil with a good supply of organic matter. Digging the soil before planting is recommended.
