Johnsons alyssum saxatile gold dust produces bright mass of golden yellow flowers over compact spreading foliage. It is ideal plant for rockeries, walls, between paving and border edges. Indoor sowing February to April, in trays of seed compost. Sow thinly, cover with a fine layer of compost. Cover with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx. 15-18˚C. Seedlings appear 14-21 days. Remove cover when seedlings appear. When large enough to handle transplant 5cm apart in trays of compost. Grow on at approx. 13-15˚C. Gradually acclimatise to outside conditions. Transplant 25cm apart in flowering position from summer onwards. Flowers April to June, the following year. Outdoor sowing May to June, in a prepared seed bed. Sow thinly in rows 25cm apart. Cover lightly with fine soil. When large enough thin to 10cm apart. Transplant 25cm apart in flowering position from September to October. Flowers April to June, the following year.
