What size logs can a log splitter handle?

We have wood splitters in a range of sizes and power settings, from 4 tonnes of force to 7 tonnes, and everything in between. You should check your manufacturer’s guidelines to see the maximum size of logs you can split, but they normally range between 300-520mm in length and 200-300mm in width. For smaller branches, use a garden shredder to break these down into mulch for your garden.

Can I use a log splitter indoors?

Only use powered log splitters outdoors to avoid any damage to your home or fumes from the motor, or under well-ventilated shelter. Hydraulic or manual wood splitters could be used in your shed or outbuilding, but make sure you have enough room to operate the splitter safely.

How much noise does a wood splitter make?

A powered wood splitter has noise from the motor which runs it, which is fair enough when it’s generating up to 7 tonnes of force! The wood itself will also make noise, so you should only use a powered log splitter at sociable times of the day. Manual wood splitters will be a lot quieter.
