Shop ready-made curtains to dress your window

Different rooms call for different curtains. living rooms often suit a heavier, lined curtain that helps with both light control and a bit of extra warmth in winter. Bedrooms benefit from blackout curtains if you want a properly dark room for better sleep. For kitchens, bathrooms, or anywhere you want light in but a bit of privacy, voile curtains offer a softer, sheer alternative that still lets daylight through.

Find the right curtain heading

Eyelet and pencil pleat are the two most common curtain headings, and neither is better than the other - when picking them out, it all comes down to personal preference. Eyelet curtains have a modern, wavy drape and thread straight onto a pole, making them quick to hang. Pencil pleat curtains have a more traditional, gathered look and can be hung from either a pole or a track, giving you a bit more flexibility if you're not sure which you have.

Whichever heading you go for, make sure you measure your window's width and drop first. Ready-made curtains are sized to fit standard windows, so getting this right makes all the difference to how they hang.

Curtains FAQs

How do I measure my window for ready-made curtains?

Measure the width of your pole or track (not the window itself) for the curtain width, and measure from the pole or track down to where you want the curtains to end for the drop. Ready-made curtains are sold in standard width and drop combinations, so round up to the nearest available size if you're in between - always better to have too much than not enough!

What's the difference between eyelet and pencil pleat curtains?

Eyelet curtains have metal rings sewn into the top that thread directly onto a pole, giving a relaxed, wavy look. Pencil pleat curtains use a header tape that gathers into neat, pencil-like pleats and can hang from either a pole or a track.

Can I machine wash ready-made curtains?

Most pencil pleat curtains are machine washable, but always check the care label first; some fabrics, linings or eyelet designs may need hand washing or dry cleaning instead.
